Winthrop physicians successfully managed hypertensive patients with or without comorbidities, and these patients were in compliance with current JNC 7, ADA, and ATP III recommendations. The authors believe that success resulted, in large part, because of strict adherence to the national guidelines by physicians. An emphasis on patient education was also thought to play a role.
